We’re hiring an experienced Hostel Manager to lead two supported housing services in Derby – Newstead House and Centenary House. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a homelessness services management role where you’ll provide leadership, operational oversight, and support to vulnerable adults and women at risk.
At Riverside, we provide safe, supportive environments for people experiencing homelessness. As Hostel Manager, you’ll ensure our services are well-run, compliant, and resident-focused, while leading a dedicated team to deliver high-quality supported housing.

What You’ll Be Doing
As Hostel Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of two supported housing services in Derby:

Operational Management: Oversee rotas, staffing, budgets, procurement, and compliance with housing and health & safety regulations.

Team Leadership: Line-manage a team of around 15 staff, ensuring recruitment, supervision, performance, and professional development.

Resident Support: Promote a safe, respectful environment, resolve disputes, and enforce hostel rules.

Crisis Management: Respond effectively to incidents, risks, and emergencies.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with local authorities, referral partners, outreach services, and emergency teams.

Performance Reporting: Provide updates on KPIs, incidents, and key operational data to senior management.
What We’re Looking For

Proven experience as a Hostel Manager, Supported Housing Manager, or Homelessness Services Manager.

Strong leadership and team management skills, including rota planning and supervision.

Knowledge of housing regulations, compliance standards, and health & safety.

Background in supporting vulnerable adults with complex needs (non-care capacity).

Excellent decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Confident with Microsoft Office and rota/scheduling systems.
