As an Outreach Support Worker, you’ll be on the frontline of tackling homelessness, working directly with people who are sleeping rough and helping them take the first steps towards safety, stability, and a brighter future.

Shift Pattern
- 37.5 hours per week
- 7-day rota, including weekends
- Typically 1 in 4 weekends
- Outreach shifts: 5:30am – 1:30pm
- On-site shifts: 7:00am – 3:00pm
- 30-minute unpaid break
What You’ll Be Doing:
Working alongside a dedicated team, you’ll be joining a specialist rough sleeping outreach service providing access to emergency accommodation, longer-term housing solutions, and the support services people need to rebuild their lives.
You’ll start some days before sunrise, heading out across Wakefield to identify and engage with people who are sleeping rough. Through compassionate, non-judgemental conversations, you’ll offer immediate support and access to emergency accommodation.
You’ll also work closely with individuals once they’re placed into accommodation, helping them navigate services including:
- Housing and homelessness support
- Mental health services
- Substance misuse services
- Healthcare providers
- Criminal justice services

Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Access to your own vehicle
- Ability to work early mornings and weekends on a rota basis
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Compassionate, patient, and non-judgemental approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
