Service Manager – LD & Parenting Support

Riverside is looking for a Service Manager to oversee a unique and sensitive supported housing service for individuals with learning disabilities and young parents. This role is ideal for someone who excels at rebuilding morale, fostering a positive team culture, and leading with empathy, clarity, and resilience.
Location: Swindon (Booker House & Swindon Young Parents Accommodation)
Rate: £19–£20/hour
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (no weekends or evenings)
Contract Length: Minimum 2 months, with potential for extension
DBS Required: Enhanced
Driving: Desirable – travel between sites required

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support staff teams across both schemes, promoting motivation, stability, and accountability

Rebuild morale and establish a compassionate, high-performing team culture

Manage performance, absence, and development of staff in line with best practice

Foster a safe, respectful, and empowering atmosphere for both residents and staff

Collaborate with external agencies and stakeholders to ensure high standards of support

Monitor service delivery, compliance, and ongoing operational effectiveness
What We’re Looking For

Strong background in people management, with experience leading teams through change or difficulty

Emotional intelligence and natural empathy, be able to offer genuine support while maintaining professional boundaries

Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or young parents with complex needs

Skilled communicator and conflict resolver, able to de-escalate tension and encourage open dialogue

A calm, confident, and consistent leadership style

A genuine commitment to person-centred care and the wellbeing of both service users and staff

Highly organised, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities across two sites
