Location: Derby (Two Sites: Newstead House & Centenary House)
Rate: £19–£20/hour
Hours: 37.5 per week (flexible shifts between 8am–10pm, Monday to Sunday)
Contract Length: Minimum 3 months
DBS Required: Enhanced
Riverside is currently seeking a proactive, experienced Hostel Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of two 24/7 supported housing services in Derby. This is a non-CQC registered role with no personal care duties. The successful candidate will focus on operational oversight, team leadership, and compliance, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery across both sites.
About the Services

Centenary House: 33-bed high-level hostel for vulnerable adults (18+) with complex needs.

Newstead House: 6-bed medium-to-low level hostel for women at risk, including those with experience of domestic violence, mental health needs, or substance misuse.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the operations of two hostel sites, maintaining a safe and well-run environment.

Oversee staff rotas, site safety, on-call cover, and adherence to Health & Safety and housing regulations.

Manage emergency situations, incidents, and operational escalations promptly and effectively.

Maintain financial accountability, monitor budgets, and manage procurement of supplies and services.

Report on KPIs, incidents, and key operational data to senior leadership.
Team Leadership

Line manage a team of approximately 15 staff, overseeing recruitment, supervision, performance, and development.

Foster a team culture based on professionalism, accountability, and strong values.

Provide direction, coaching, and support to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery.
Resident Interaction

Enforce house rules, resolve resident complaints and disputes, and promote a safe, respectful living environment.

Ensure the hostels support residents to sustain accommodation and progress towards independence.
Stakeholder Engagement

Build strong working relationships with local authorities, referral partners, outreach teams, and emergency services.

Represent the service in external meetings and professional forums as required.
Essential Requirements

Proven experience managing supported housing, hostels, or homelessness services.

Strong team management skills including rota planning, supervision, and performance oversight.

Sound knowledge of compliance, housing regulations, and health & safety.

Experience supporting vulnerable adults with complex needs or chaotic lifestyles (in a non-care capacity).

Confident decision-maker with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in IT systems including Microsoft Office and rota/scheduling software.
